Tanzanite Ring Commission

Tanzanite Ring Commission

Silver

Stone-hammered fine silver ring with sentimental Tanzanite, bought by my client on her travels in Tanzania, accents of heirloom gold and diamonds.

This glorious deep indigo Tanzanite usurped heirloom gold for pride of place in this bespoke commission which was a bit of a departure for me.

I instilled an edge of rawness in the formality of the design by using an extravagance of gold solder to reflect and radiate the memories held within the heirloom gold accents that hold the diamonds.

My client, who was thrilled with the ring, said “At first it’s all about the Tanzanite, and then you see more.”

Jewels for Persephone, Ring

Silver

Stone-hammered pure silver, with oxidised outer rim. Brilliant cut garnets, move freely within an inner ring, and seed pearls, move within the outer ring, captured and held apart by a rock crystal quartz cabochon. 24ct gold leaf provides a rich surround.

Observer’s Ring

Observer’s Ring

Silver

A ring with a vintage camera lens set into the lid, that magnifies whatever you wish to observe within it.

Some of these rings have hinged clasps as shown here, and some are plain.

Double Eternity Ring

Double Eternity Ring

Silver

This is my own ring, with a finger-shaped shank. I’ve contained the stones from each of my Grandmothers’ tiny gold eternity rings, in a ring-within-a-ring. They’re magnified by a rock crystal quartz cabochon with wonderful rainbow inclusions. The playful aspect of this ring alludes to the maze games we had in the 70’s where steel balls had to be moved from one area to another.

Fine silver, heirloom gemstones, 22ct gold leaf, platinum leaf.

Memento Mori Ring

Memento Mori Ring

Silver

Jewel Narratives commission made from a mixture of rings no longer worn, some more sentimental than others.

M’s late husband’s wedding ring fit her perfectly, so it had to be part of the ring shank. Her own wedding ring was re-formed and used to support a custom-cut rock crystal cabochon that magnified a dozen smaller diamonds, contained yet free to move in a sumptuously gold-leafed enclosure. Larger diamonds were tube set to ‘float’ in the dark outer enclosure.

The mix of recycled heirloom gold and oxidised silver made a bold ring that left the wedding rings symbolically intact and gave life to unworn diamonds.

Turtle Pool Ring

Turtle Pool Ring

Silver

Michelle had long spent time caring for others and was very fond of this turtle on a tiny diamond brooch bequest. She wanted the turtle to have her own little pool to ‘swim’ in.

The idea was for movement within a golden pool. I removed the brooch fittings and hand-wove a fine web of silk and steel to anchor the turtle within her pool.

Over time, the turtle’s movements will create ripples in the gold leaf.

Heirloom turtle, silver, 22ct gold leaf, silk and steel.
